I have loved to read for as long as I can remember and always enjoy wandering through Barnes & Noble to find my next book (you can usually find me in the Science and Medicine sections 90% of the time, haha)! For today’s blog post, I thought it would be fun to share some of the most memorable books that I have either read recently or am currently reading. Although I tend to gravitate towards nonfiction, it’s fun to sprinkle in some fiction or a mystery novel here and there as my go-to beach read! Below, in no particular order, you’ll find some of my favorite books that I highly recommend adding to your collection. I hope you enjoy!
- American Royals: I am a little late to the game on this book, but so far I love it! It’s a fun change from the books I typically go for and I can’t wait to lounge on the beach with it this summer! If you’re looking for a lighthearted read, this one is a great choice!
- Life Lessons from a Brain Surgeon: In this book, Dr. Rahul Jandial debunks brain myths and provides strategies for peak brain health and cognitive performance through stories of his very own patients in the operating room. I liked that it wasn’t very technical, making it an easier read. It definitely provided a very interesting perspective and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
- Any Ruth Ware Mystery: Something that you may not know about me is that I love mysteries! When I’m not reading a science book, you’ll likely find me with one of Ruth Ware’s in hand! So far I have read The Woman in Cabin 10 and In a Dark, Dark Wood. Both were excellent and true page-turners – I couldn’t put them down!
- Mindset: I read this one a few years back, but I think it is something that everyone should read. The author writes about the fixed vs. growth mindset and how changing the way we think about things can set us up for success in any situation. If topics like this interest you in any way, I could not recommend this one enough!
- Brain on Fire: I read this book during my senior year of high school and it was one of the inspirations behind my decision to pursue Neuroscience and the medical field. If you have seen the Netflix movie, this is the book it was based off of! It tells the true story of a young woman who was one of few patients in the world to suffer from a very rare brain infection. If you decide to read any of the books on this list, I hope it will be this one – it is one of my favorites!
What’s on your summer reading list? If you decide to try any of the books I shared above, definitely let me know what you think! If you have any must-reads of your own, feel free to message me on Instagram and we can chat – I’m always looking for something new to read!
Have a great rest of your week!
[…] Reading for fun is such a great hobby that I tend to gravitate towards more during the summer. There’s nothing better than lounging on the beach with a good book! Summer is a great time to read those books you’ve been meaning to get to, but haven’t been able to read or finish due to school or work. If you need any recommendations for some good books to read, check out last week’s post here! […]
