Summer is almost here! If you’ve been thinking of a starting a new hobby, look no further than this post! Having a fun activity that you enjoy in your free time is so important. It relieves stress and gives you something to look forward to after a long day of school or work. In this post, I’m sharing 6 hobbies that you can try this summer. I hope you enjoy!
Golf
Golf is such a fun activity that you can enjoy for life! It is a challenging and humbling sport, but I have really been enjoying the process! Now that the weather is warming up, it’s the perfect time to head to the driving range or play a quick 9-hole game with friends and family. If you don’t have your own set of clubs, many public courses and driving ranges have clubs and push carts that you can rent if needed.
Running
Running is something that I have had a love-hate relationship with over the last few years. In the past, I would only run to get ready for field hockey preseason, but after high school I started to implement it as a part of my daily routine. I have not been as consistent with it as I would like to be, but this is one of my main goals for the summer. If you have also been wanting to start running, we can work on it together! The hardest part is getting your sneakers on and getting out the door. Once you get started, I promise that you will not regret it! Don’t worry about how fast you go or how many times you have to stop at first – get your favorite Spotify playlist ready and have fun with it!
Yoga
I love yoga! If you’re looking for a different way to stay active this summer, this is a great option! It is a great stress reliever and also helps to stretch and strengthen your muscles. Many yoga studios have introductory offers where you can take a certain number of classes at a discounted rate, as well as new member specials. If you’re not necessarily looking to join a studio, YouTube has so many great videos to choose from!
Reading for fun is such a great hobby that I tend to gravitate towards more during the summer. There’s nothing better than lounging on the beach with a good book! Summer is a great time to read those books you’ve been meaning to get to, but haven’t been able to read or finish due to school or work. If you need any recommendations for some good books to read, check out last week’s post here!
Start a Blog or a YouTube Channel
If you have ever thought about starting a blog or a YouTube channel, my advice is to go for it!! I had no idea how much I enjoyed writing weekly posts and have been able to connect with so many amazing people through blogging! It can be scary to put yourself out there at first, but just be yourself! Don’t worry about what anyone else may think, how many followers you have, etc. There is a lot to learn and I am still learning new things everyday, but that’s all a part of the fun!
Photography
On the topic of creative outlets, photography is another great option! My photography hobby eventually transformed into this blog! If you love to take pictures, even if it’s just with your phone, I encourage you to follow that passion – take a walk around your neighborhood or local area and find some cool places to shoot – I love going to the beach and setting up different shots of the pavilion, the ocean, the freshly bloomed flowers around the lake, etc. I find it really relaxing! And who knows, maybe you can turn it into a side-hustle or small business one day!
Thank you so much for reading!
