Happy Wednesday, friends! This week, I am back with another edition of “Recently Read”! Usually I like to wait until I have read a couple of books before posting these so I can recommend a variety of options. However, the book I am about to share with you truly deserves its own post – I hope you enjoy!
Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins is a must-read for absolutely everyone. I don’t normally gravitate towards the personal development section of Barnes & Noble, but every now and then I find a good book there that is worth the read. I had been hearing so many incredible things about this book and I can see why! David Goggins is a retired member of the military who is the only man to have completed training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller. He is also an ultra runner and has placed in the top five in numerous endurance races and events. Though very impressive, these accomplishments were no easy feat. In Can’t Hurt Me, Goggins tells the story of his life and the obstacles and adversity he faced during his childhood and throughout his career in the military. He shows that our mindset is our most powerful weapon and, when faced with a challenge, we are only fighting against ourselves. He developed the concept of the “40% Rule” stating that most people only tap into 40% of their capabilities and teaches us how we can push ourselves to limits we never knew existed. Through all of his intense military training and ultra running, he showed that mindset, not just physical fitness, was the most important factor in accomplishing all of these goals. He applies each of these experiences to different scenarios you may be facing and ends each chapter with a different challenge for you to apply in your own life. I could go on and on about this book but I don’t want to share too many details in hopes that you pick up a copy for yourself! Can’t Hurt Me changed my perspective in so many ways. There are lessons to be learned in every chapter and inspiration found on each page. I could not recommend this book enough and know you will love it just as much as I did!
Thank you so much for reading!
