Happy Wednesday, friends! Welcome back to the blog. This week, I am back with another edition of “Recently Read”! I have two books to share with you all that I am so excited about! These are two very popular books that I was hearing so many great things about and had to see for myself if they were worth the hype. Spoiler alert, both of these are great options if you’re looking for a suspenseful thriller! I am definitely late to the party on these, but if you haven’t read them yet I would definitely recommend. I hope you enjoy!
The Silent Patient
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides is a thriller written from the perspective of a psychologist who accepts a job at a new hospital with the goal of treating Alicia Berenson – a newly admitted patient who is accused of murdering her husband and refuses to speak. The plot begins with suspense and follows the main character through his work with Alicia and through his own struggles in his personal life. Despite the suspense throughout, it is a little slow at first. However, it still kept my attention. By the time you reach the final third of the book, you will not be able to put it down! The pace picks up and leaves you with a very interesting twist that I did not see coming!
Verity
Verity by Colleen Hoover is another psychological thriller that is also a New York Times #1 bestseller! This was one of the most popular Colleen Hoover books so I decided to give it a shot. The suspense kicks off from the first page and continues throughout the book without missing a beat! I know many people read this in a matter of days as you are presented with twists and turns in every chapter. Although I did not “binge read” this one, I was able to read upwards of 50-60+ pages each time I picked it up. As I continued through the book, the plot reminded me of The Last Mrs. Parrish in some ways. The last seventy-five pages were impossible to put down and I was very surprised by the ending! This was my first Colleen Hoover read, and I would agree with other reviews that is definitely for a mature audience. However, I really enjoyed the plot line and felt it kept me on the edge of my seat!
