I am so excited to be back with another edition of “Recently Read”! For those of you who may be new to The SK Way, this is a series I started on the blog back in September to highlight some of my recent picks off the bookshelf and share my thoughts! Ever since I started my job six months ago, I feel like I haven’t been reading much. I absolutely love to read, but in all honestly, it’s so much more enticing to come home after a long day and unwind with Netflix or Youtube, haha! However, I have made it my goal for this summer to get back into reading and continue writing these posts more consistently. I hope you enjoy!
Diagnosis: This book by Dr. Lisa Sanders, M.D. is for all of my fellow medical nerds or anyone who likes a good puzzle. A few years back, I watched the documentary on Netflix by the same name and was so excited to find the book on a recent Barnes & Noble trip! The process of diagnosing a condition is a part of medicine that has always peaked my interest. This book tells the stories of real patients and the different conditions that healthcare providers have experienced in hospitals and clinics around the country. As an aspiring PA, I was really interested in learning about some of these “mystery” diagnoses and got a further glimpse into the different types of conditions treated by different specialists. If you are interested in healthcare, I think this is a great read that wasn’t very long or overly-technical. I would recommend the documentary too!
Majesty: In this sequel to American Royals, Katharine McGee picks up right where she left off in book one! I read the first book last summer and was surprisingly hooked as it was a little bit different than the books I typically reach for. However, sometimes I like to trade in my educational reads for something a little bit lighter. The American Royals series is perfect for that! I will admit that I am not finished with this book yet (like I said, still trying to be better about the whole reading thing haha) but I am about 100 pages in and I’m absolutely loving it! I recently purchased the third book in the series that was just released in May and I can’t wait to read that one as well! If you’re looking for a lighthearted option I would highly recommend. This series reminds me of Princess Diaries in a lot of ways and I would encourage you to give it a shot if you haven’t already!
Thank you so much for reading! What have you “Recently Read”?
