Whether you’re a student or working 9-5, we’ve all experienced the stress that comes around each Sunday in anticipation of the week ahead – often referred to as the “sunday scaries”. These feelings can be initiated by upcoming deadlines, exams, or just knowing that your time is no longer your own come Monday morning. In this week’s post, I wanted to touch upon three tips to help you shift towards a more positive mindset surrounding the start of a new week. I hope you enjoy!
Implement Fun Weekend Plans
For my first tip, I highly suggest carving out time each weekend for things you enjoy. For me, this consists of taking pictures, writing blog posts, and filming videos for TikTok. This could also include exploring a new coffee shop with friends, developing a “weekly rest” cleaning routine, working out, getting your nails done, etc. When you’ve dedicated your weekend to things you wouldn’t otherwise have time for, it sets a more positive tone heading into the work week.
Prep the Night Before
I am a huge proponent of preparing for your work or school day the night before. By picking out your outfit, getting your lunch ready, and packing your bag ahead of time, you won’t have to run around the next morning trying to gather your belongings and risk forgetting something at home. It also leaves some time for you to have more control over your morning. With these tasks out of the way, you may have more time to relax and drink your coffee, read, or squeeze in a morning workout before heading out the door.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep
This one may seem like a no-brainer, but it is super important! Getting a good night’s sleep will help you feel refreshed and ready to take on your week. Some of my favorite things to do are:
- read as opposed to watching TV or Netflix
- light your favorite candle or diffuse some essential oils
- turn your phone on “do not disturb” or place it across the room
