Happy Wednesday, friends! Welcome back to the blog. As I sat down to the plan out my content for the month of January, I knew I wanted to share a skincare post. I’ve been struggling with stress breakouts a little bit more than usual for the last year or so but finally started seeing some longer-term results in the past few weeks. I am convinced that the 3 strategies below played a very big role in this and I couldn’t help but share!
As a disclaimer, everyone’s skin is different. What works for me may not work for someone else and vice versa. I thought it would be fun to share what has been helping me over the last few months along with some of my favorite products – I hope you enjoy!
Skin Cycling
I came across an article a few months ago that talked about “skin cycling”. I had never heard of it before, but decided to try it out! Skin Cycling simplifies your skincare routine by rotating your active-ingredient products every 3-4 days. I am definitely a product person and love trying out new cleansers, serums, etc. but didn’t realize that some ingredients were not meant to be worn together in order to protect your skin barrier and to give your products a chance to work properly. My morning skincare routine remains the same, but I started implementing this at night time and found that my skin has looked and felt so much healthier and less congested. I outlined the schedule I follow below:
Night 1: exfoliate
Night 2: Retinol
Nights 3&4: Hydration
Baby Washcloths
One of my friends said a while back that she uses baby washcloths to dry her face instead of using a hand towel. I never thought to do this but it’s such a great idea! We don’t realize how much bacteria our towels can collect which can lead to breakouts or worsen existing ones. I purchased two sets from Target and take a new one each time I wash my face. These are also softer and much less abrasive on your skin than traditional towels. If there is one thing that you take away from this post, I hope it’s this! It has definitely been a game changer for me and I wish I had made the switch sooner.
Clean Makeup Products
In one of my recent posts, I overhauled my makeup routine and made the switch to “cleaner” makeup products. I initially did this because I had heard so many great things about some of the brands and couldn’t help but try them out. This is not absolutely necessary, but I have been loving everything I purchased and truly believe that the cleaner ingredients prevented my pores from becoming clogged. Overall, my skin has looked and felt so much healthier and I have some of these products to thank!
Thank you so much for reading!
