Transitioning to Fall || Chambray

September 9, 2020 · In: Fall, Style

Hello everyone and welcome back to the blog! I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and are having a great week so far 🙂 With the start of fall only a few weeks away, I thought I would share another post about transitioning to fall fashion! One of my favorite things to wear during this time of year is chambray. The lightweight feel to this material is a bit thicker than that of summer linen which I love, but isn’t as heavy as denim. When it comes to clothes, I love incorporating versatile, timeless pieces into my wardrobe – I love having quality pieces that I can reach for year after year without having to worry about them going out of style. Today, I am so excited to share three different outfits incorporating chambray “The SK Way”!

OUTFIT #1:

This first look features a pair of chambray shorts from J.Crew Factory. I have had these shorts for years and they are always one of my go-to options. They feel slightly lighter than the classic chino shorts and are definitely not as thick as jean shorts! They are the perfect option for a hot summer day, but can easily be carried into early fall with a simple long sleeve shirt. This thin ruffle tee from J.Crew is so comfortable and I have already worn it so many times! I wore this exact outfit yesterday for class and it was perfect for sitting on Zoom all day – comfy, casual, and cute is the name of the game for me when it comes to work from home outfits 🙂

OUTFIT #2:

This next look is one of my favorites! It is perfect for a nice night out to dinner or for those days when you want to dress up a little bit! I don’t know about you, but I am not really one to follow the “no white after Labor Day” rule. White jeans are so versatile so I like to get as much use out of them as I can! (I will usually put them away when the weather starts to cool down and I switch out my wardrobe for darker colors). They pair perfectly with this square-neck chambray top from J.Crew Factory. This is the perfect transition outfit as the chambray helps to balance out the summer whites.

OUTFIT #3:

The final look is something I wouldn’t necessarily wear right now, but I will definitely break it out into the cooler months. Remember when I said I like having timeless pieces in my wardrobe? I have had this exact outfit since freshman year of high school!! (Yep – 14-year-old Shannon was still wearing this outfit 7 years ago!) The chambray button-down is from J.Crew Factory and the leggings are from LOFT. They are not your typical cotton leggings, but they are made of a thicker material which makes them perfect to wear as pants with an outfit like this! Since it is usually not cold enough for flannels right away, the chambray top is perfect to pair with a puffer vest and some jewelry for a classic fall look!

Which one was your favorite? I hope you enjoyed seeing the different ways I like to style chambray or maybe even got some outfit inspiration for the next couple of weeks! I am so excited to continue writing fall posts for you all – I can’t wait to show you my fall essentials lookbook soon 🙂 Thank you so much for reading and have a great rest of your day!
