Summer is officially here and that means lots of beach and pool days ahead of us! Growing up at the Jersey Shore, the beach was (and still is) a huge part of my life. It is definitely one of my favorite summer activities!
I am a classic over-packer so when it comes to the beach, I try to only pack what I absolutely need. Today, I will be sharing some of my must-have essentials for a day in the sun!
1) A Good Beach Bag: This is my number one essential! It does not need to be anything fancy, but make sure it is durable, practical, and fits everything you need. For the past couple of summers, I have used a Scout backpack and I love it! Scout sells actual beach bags but I prefer this one since it has served so many other purposes. It has come in handy as a carry-on for the plane, and is a great bag to bring to coffee shops at school if I don’t want to bring my big backpack to do homework. It is also foldable and easy to store! As someone who is always on the hunt for a good deal, this is not normally something I would buy, but you definitely get your money’s worth with this bag!
2) A Comfy Beach Towel: Living at the shore, you tend to accumulate a lot of towels! Time and time again, the one I always gravitate towards is my Vera Bradley beach towel. I got this for my birthday and it is hands-down the softest towel I have ever used! It also makes a great gift!
3) After Sun Lotion: We all know that wearing sunscreen and protecting our skin is important, but sometimes accidents happen and we end up looking a little more red than we would like (me right now)! Whenever this happens, I always reach for the Banana Boat After Sun Lotion. Not only is it really hydrating, but it contains aloe to soothe the pain of any sunburn you may have gotten. Even if you didn’t get burned, I still like to use this after the beach since it helps to preserve your tan 🙂
4) A Good Book: My favorite thing to do at the beach is set up my chair and relax with a book I am currently reading. It is so nice to disconnect from my phone for a while and just enjoy the sun! I also like to bring fruit or a granola bar to snack on while I read!
5) Lots of Water: This one may seem like a no-brainer but it is so easy to get dehydrated while sitting on the beach. I usually pack a big reusable water bottle full of ice so it stays cold all morning long. It sounds kind of silly but if you put your water in a fun container that you like to drink out of, you’ll be more likely to reach for it!
I hope you enjoyed reading about my beach day must-haves! Do you have any essentials for the beach or the pool? Feel free to share them below, I would love to hear what you think! Thank you so much for reading and I will see you on Friday for my next post 🙂
