Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today, I am so excited to show you some fun ways to transform your space on a budget! Cute decor items can get expensive, but you can still create the look you want for less (or even for free)! Keep reading to find out how I upgraded my decor “The SK Way”.
When I renovated my bedroom last summer, I was very inspired by the farmhouse style. This summer, however, I was looking for a bit of a refresh! I wanted to incorporate some more color in the room while still maintaining that rustic look. Here’s what I came up with:
Patterned Throw Pillows: Blue & white has always been one of my favorite color combinations. My bathroom at home as well as my entire dorm room at college are both a nautical navy blue and white theme! If you remember back to my Room Tour post, my accent color was a soft blush pink. I still love the pink and will most likely incorporate those pillows in with the blue at some point, but I love how the patterned pillows add a bit of pop to my solid bedding!
These Better Homes & Gardens Reversible Pillows are the perfect addition to my room and were only $12.87 at Walmart! One side is a pretty navy plaid, and the other side has a navy buffalo check pattern so you can mix and match as you please!
Reuse and Repurpose Whenever Possible: When you use pieces you already have, but put them in a new place or give them a new purpose, it can look like a completely different space! The hanging shelves above my bed in the first picture used to belong to my sister! She just moved out of her NYC apartment and had a lot of decorations she was no longer using. She also provided the greenery, and I added the “Pray More, Worry Less” and “But First, Coffee” signs that used to be on my windowsill to complete the look.
DIY: If you have been reading my posts for a while, then you know I love DIY decor. I truly believe that personalized pieces that are made by hand make a room feel more like home! My sister graciously painted some prints for me of a eucalyptus leaf and a chinoiserie ginger jar – they go perfectly with my theme!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed and maybe even found some new ways to refresh your decor. It is fun to treat yourself to some new pieces but never discount what you may already have lying around the house – you never know what you may find!
Happy Decorating!
