Happy Wednesday and welcome back to The SK Way! I hope you all are having a great week – can you believe it is already halfway over? Time is flying by! If you have been following the blog since the beginning, you know that I have briefly mentioned my blue light glasses from Eye Buy Direct in a few posts. I have used them for a little over six months and I absolutely love them! However, they can be a bit pricey depending on the style you choose. Today, I am collaborating with Gaoye Fashion and their partner, Livho Glasses, from Amazon to try two cost-efficient pairs of blue light glasses! Should you save or should you splurge? Do they even work? Keep reading for my honest reviews and recommendations!
- Pink Frames: The first pair they sent me have transparent pink frames- I think these are so fun and different from any other pair of glasses I own! I love how oversized they are which ensures that your eyes are protected from all angles. The gold wire arms add a bit of contrast and are very stylish! They are extremely lightweight and are on sale now for only $14.99 (originally $17.99).
- Leopard Frames: The next pair have frames with a pretty tan and brown leopard print! These are also very lightweight and cover the entire eye area. I like that the rims are thinner, giving them a very minimalistic look for only $25.
- Hepburn Frames: These are my blue light glasses from Eye Buy Direct that I received for Christmas. They are very similar to the pairs I was gifted in terms of their weight and coverage! With Eye Buy Direct, you have to purchase the frames and lenses separately – the Hepburn frames are currently $42. From there, you can add blue light blocking lenses starting at $19. You also have the option to add your prescription if you wish to do so!
Do They Work?: Included in the box was a blue light testing strip. After shining the blue light through the lens, you can see that nothing was absorbed! I tested both Amazon pairs, as well as the pair from Eye Buy Direct and all three had the same result! No matter which pair you choose, you can wear them confidently knowing that your eyes are fully protected – this is especially important for students and anyone who spends a good portion of their day in front of a screen.
Save or Splurge?: When it comes to the price point, I think it depends on what you are looking for! I am always looking to shop for good deals, but I will invest in a nicer item if I feel it is beneficial! The two pairs from Amazon are both made with the TR90 light and flexible frame design. This guarantees a weightless feel, but I will say that they feel a bit flimsy in comparison to the Eye Buy Direct frames which are made from a sturdier material. However, I do not believe that this hinders their function in any way! The Amazon glasses still block blue light which is the most important thing!
If you are looking to try blue light glasses for the first time, or do not typically wear glasses and want to try them out before investing, I think either Amazon pair would be perfect! However, if you would like to add a prescription, or are looking to invest in a “high-end” pair of more durable glasses, another brand such as Eye Buy Direct might be the way to go – it all depends on your budget and what you feel comfortable with!
I hope you enjoyed this review! If you are a student like me, blue light blocking glasses are essential for working long hours on the computer (especially if you will be learning remotely this year!) If you have any questions or end up purchasing any of the glasses I mentioned, please let me know! I would love to hear your thoughts ๐ Thank you again to Gaoye and Livho for sending me some new glasses! I cannot wait to wear them!
Thank you for reading!
