Happy Friday everyone and welcome back to The SK Way! School has been absolutely crazy lately (which is why this post did not go up on Wednesday as planned haha). However, I am so happy to be back for another weekly blog post!
I cannot believe that the official start of fall is this Tuesday! Fall has always been my favorite season – I love going apple and pumpkin picking, trying out all of the fall-flavored drinks at my favorite coffee shops, and lighting my fall candles. My birthday is also in October, so overall it is just a very fun time of year for me! Aside from all of these things, my absolute favorite part about fall is putting together lots of cute outfits!
For today’s post, I have rounded up six of my fall wardrobe essentials and I am so excited to show you how I style them!
Essential #1: Jackets
I love a crisp autumn day when it is chilly enough to wear a light jacket, but not cold enough to bundle up. One of my favorite pieces that perfectly completes an everyday look is my J.Crew Factory field jacket (similar style linked here). I have had this jacket since freshman year of high school and it has held up so well! It is my go-to choice in the early fall and spring seasons! In the picture on the left, I paired it with my striped shirt from J.Crew, some dark wash jeans, and sperry’s.
The jacket on the right is also from J.Crew Factory and it was such a steal! This is the Village Coat in the camel color (similar style linked here). I was able to grab it from the clearance rack last spring for only $38!! (It was originally priced at $238!!!) I paired it with a simple black long sleeve t-shirt, my sperry sneakers, and the same dark wash jeans.
Essential #2: Puffer Vests
Puffer vests are one of the most versatile clothing items! They are so easy to throw on as an extra layer, and they just add a little something to your outfit! In addition to the herringbone vest shown above, I also have black and navy blue ones. J.Crew Factory is a great place to look for puffer vests, but Old Navy tends to have a great selection of them as well!
Essential #3: Shep Shirts
You can never go wrong with a Shep Shirt in the fall (or during any season really)! They are so comfortable and are perfect to wear with some jeans and a pair of Sperrys for a classic yet casual look. They are also great to wear with leggings if you are just lounging around the house. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen this photo already, but this outfit combination is definitely one of my favorites for the fall season!
Essential #4: Flannels
Flannels are the perfect piece to keep you comfortable and warm, but can be dressed up or down to your liking. The navy and white flannel on the left is from J.Crew Factory and I love pairing it with some simple black leggings and my Steve Madden slip-ons for an easy, effortless look. Back when we were able to study in coffee shops, this was the perfect outfit for a weekend of doing work!
On the right, I paired this super cozy tartan-like flannel from American Eagle with the same black leggings and my boots. This is something I would wear on a chillier day and it can easily be dressed up with a vest or a statement necklace! I love that flannels have the comfort of a sweatshirt while still allowing you to feel somewhat put together.
Essential #5: Cozy Sweaters
When it comes to sweaters and cardigans, I could probably write a whole separate post about my favorites! But for today, I decided to pick one of my favorites for the fall time – this burnt orange balloon sleeve sweater is from Hollister and is so comfortable! This exact outfit was a popular choice for me last year and I am so excited to bring it back for this upcoming season!
Essential #6: Rain Gear
Rain gear is always an essential regardless of the season, but this last look is one of my go-to’s for rainy autumn days. I like to wear a pair of comfortable leggings with my Hunter rain boots and my North Face rain jacket to keep me comfortable, warm and dry!
