Weekend at the Winery

September 30, 2020 · In: Life, Travel

Happy Wednesday everyone and welcome back to The SK Way. I can’t believe the start of October is tomorrow already! With the weather starting to cool down here at the Jersey Shore, I have been trying to spend as much time as I can outside. So far, I have loved going running in the morning, and taking advantage of outdoor dining at different restaurants on the weekends. This past weekend, however, included a fun day trip to a winery in South Jersey!

On Saturday, my boyfriend Carter and I met up with our friend Caroline and her boyfriend for a double date at Willow Creek Winery! We thought this would be the perfect “fall birthdays” celebration – Caroline’s boyfriend Brandon just celebrated his birthday last week and my birthday is coming up in early October. Since Carter is in the Navy, this was the perfect opportunity to celebrate while we are all together!

Carter and I drove down to Ocean City where Caroline and Brandon were kind enough to pick up some amazing sandwiches for lunch! From there, we headed to our first stop – Cape May Brewing Co.. It was pretty crowded by the time we arrived so unfortunately I wasn’t able to snap any pictures. Caroline and I are definitely wine gals but we stopped here first so the guys could grab a beer 🙂 They recently released a Watermelon Seltzer here which was made with fresh watermelon juice – so tasty! After that, we headed to our final destination – Willow Creek Winery!

This winery is absolutely gorgeous and, as we learned, is a popular location for weddings! We ordered some appetizers and split a bottle of their Blackberry Merlot. I am not usually a fan of red wine – I usually opt for white but I was open to trying something new. Little did I know, this was hands down the best red wine I have ever had! It was smooth, had no aftertaste, and had a slight hint of blackberry. We all loved it so much – looking back, I wish I purchased a bottle to take home for my family (I guess that gives me an excuse to go back, right?!)

As the sun was going down, we decided to take some pictures in the vineyard before heading to the promenade to take a walk on the beach. We ended our night with some pizza for dinner before heading back home.

I had so much fun at Willow Creek and was so happy that I got to spend the day with some of my favorite people! I can’t wait to visit more wineries in the future!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great rest of your week 🙂
