The change from winter to spring is always so much fun! Flowers start blooming, the weather starts warming up, and we can start to spend more time outside after a few long, cold months! I am so excited to be sharing my Spring Wardrobe Essentials with you this week – this post compiles 8 tried-and-true pieces that are both versatile and very timeless. You can easily create different looks with each one and wear them all for years to come! I hope you enjoy!
Striped Shirts
Perfect to wear alone or as a layering piece, a simple striped shirt is sure to be a staple! I am a little embarrassed to admit that a small section of my closet is solely dedicated to different variations of blue and white stripes, but they go with pretty much everything! I love pairing these tops with jeans or jean shorts, white jeans, or a classic pair of chino shorts.
Gingham
Whether you sport this classic pattern in a clothing piece, or incorporate it through an accessory, nothing reminds me of spring and summer more than gingham! The exact necklace I am wearing is unfortunately sold out, but I have linked a couple of similar options below.
Lightweight Sweaters
I’m a huge fan of the J.Crew Factory Cotton Teddie Sweaters – they are the perfect transition pieces for any season! I find myself wearing them a lot during this time since it is still chilly in the morning.
Sundresses
As the weather gets warmer, it’s always a good idea to have a couple of simple sundresses on hand that you can wear to brunch, out to dinner, or for a day trip with friends and family! I recently re-discovered a cute coral-colored J.Crew Factory dress I’ve had for years and can’t wait to wear it – proof that your closet is truly the best place to shop! Spring is also a great time to break out your Lilly. Please enjoy this photo from my sister’s college graduation in 2015 – fun fact: I still have this dress and wear it to this day!
Jean Jacket
A good denim jacket is the perfect layering piece for spring – I wear mine all the time!
Sperrys, Sneakers, and Sandals, Oh My!
Sperrys and casual sneakers are staples in my wardrobe year-round, but I find myself reaching for them time and time again as we transition to warmer weather. When it is finally warm enough for open-toed shoes, you’ll be sure to find me in a pair of Jack Rodgers 24/7!
Rain Gear
As the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers!“. With that being said, rain gear is a must-have for spring! For me, this consists of a good rain jacket and a pair of Hunter Boots (pro tip – if you get your equivalent size in the kids’ boots, they are almost half the price!). This jacket is from J.Crew Factory a couple of years ago. I think this yellow color is perfect for spring, not to mention, it’s the perfect piece to brighten up a cloudy day!
Canvas Totes
I’m a sucker for a canvas tote (especially when it’s monogrammed)! My go-to’s are the Boat Totes from Tuckernuck. I have both the medium and the large and I get so much use out of both of them. The price point is amazing for bags of this quality and I could not recommend them enough! Make sure you’re following me on Instagram @the.sk.way – I’m planning to share more about these bags later this week.
Thank you so much for reading – I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the pieces I’ll be mixing and matching throughout the spring season! What are some of your spring wardrobe essentials?
