Happy Wednesday, friends! Welcome back to the blog. This time of year is always so difficult style-wise! Here in New Jersey it can be cold, it could be warm, or it could feel like winter in the morning and summer by the afternoon. At this point, I am so over turtlenecks, winter coats, and heavy pieces that just look and feel too “winter-y”. So with that being said, I sat down and rounded up a few of my go-to pieces that can be layered or mixed and matched to create the perfect list of early spring essentials! Whether you are looking to cultivate a spring capsule wardrobe or are just looking for basic pieces to create a simple outfit I have you covered in today’s post – I hope you enjoy!
Rain Gear
“April showers bring May flowers” as the saying goes! It has been raining a ton here lately so I’ve been reaching for my trusty rain gear more and more! It can be hard to find the motivation to put on a cute outfit on these days, but I’ve found that a trench coat is the perfect way to add a sophisticated touch while still serving as a practical option for the weather. I also love my tried-and-true Barbor umbrella to finish off the look!
Canvas Sneakers
a solid pair of white sneakers is an essential in my wardrobe all year round, but especially during early spring when it’s too soon for sandals and other open toe options. This canvas pair from J.Crew Factory has been a favorite of mine for years! They match with virtually any outfit whether you are wearing leggings, jeans or a dress. I plan on writing a whole separate post on how I like to style these for spring!
Versatile Tote Bag
Having a larger sized tote bag is a must-have for spring! I personally love my Savannah Zippered Tote from Barrington Gifts. This is the perfect size for work, travel, and anything in between! This is truly one of those “everything but the kitchen sink” bags that can hold all of your necessities and then some. I usually have a few different bags in my rotation, but the Barrington tote is definitely at the center for the change of season.
Sweaters
Having some solid color sweaters on hand is so helpful during this time of year! I recently added the Shaker Stitch Sweaters from Gap to my collection and they are so comfortable! I opted for the navy and chino beige colors for some more variety and cannot wait to continue styling them. I also added a flag sweater to my collection this year which I am so excited about! I couldn’t link this one on LTK but it is less than $40 from Brandy Melville!
Light Wash Jeans
I always love a lighter wash jean for the warmer months! I just ordered this pair from J.Crew Factory and I cannot wait for them to arrive! I’ve been loving the straight leg style recently and think it is so versatile! I like the raw hem on this pair and think it would go perfectly with any type of shoe for the spring.
Button Down Tops
On the topic of layering, button-down tops are some of my favorites! This gauze top from J.Crew Factory is one of my most frequently worn pieces throughout the spring and summer. You could pair it with jeans or shorts for the perfect put-together yet comfortable and classic outfit.
Linen & Loungewear
If you have followed the blog for a while, then you know that I love my linen pieces! Whether it is a pair of pants, shorts, or a dress, I always gravitate towards this material come spring time. I love the comfort and breathability of linen, but it is also so easy to dress up and down. I recently picked up this pair of shorts from J.Crew and I can’t wait to wear them lounging around the house or over a bathing suit this summer.
Thank you so much for reading! What are some of your early spring wardrobe essentials?
