Recently Read || vol. 2

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I’ve been getting a few requests to share what I’ve been reading, so today, I am so excited to bring you the second edition of my “Recently Read” series! If you missed the first post from a few months back, I’ll leave a link to that here. Now that my class is winding down, I’ll have more time to read for fun so I’m hoping to make these posts a little more frequent! In the meantime, I have two new books to share with you all – I hope you enjoy!

  1. Atomic Habits: I had heard so many great things about this book by James Clear and knew I had to pick it up on my last trip to Barnes & Noble. I don’t normally gravitate towards personal development books, but I truly believe that this is something everyone should read. It is written for the general public and uses a great deal of evidence from sports, history, business, psychology, and neuroscience to provide practical strategies for building new habits and breaking old ones by making small changes. If you are familiar with the idea of becoming 1% better at something everyday, Clear expands on this with examples and exercises to implement into your daily life. He also takes time to explain how our brains create habits, and why it can be so difficult to stick to new routines, all with the goal of showing us the most effective ways to create sustainable, long-lasting habits that will help us reach our goals. I loved this book and think it will be especially helpful as we head into the new year!
  1. When Life Gives You Lululemons: This is another book that I am pretty late to the game on, haha! As much as I love a nerdy medical book or a nonfiction option like Atomic Habits, I like to break things up every now and then with something light and fun! When Life Gives You Lululemons is the perfect book for that! It is the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada and follows one of the main characters, Emily Charlton, after her time working for Miranda Priestly. If you’ve seen The Devil Wears Prada movie, Emily is Miranda’s assistant that Anne Hathaway’s character takes over for. In the book, Emily is in L.A. working as an image consultant for different celebrities and public figures. She ends up reconnecting with a friend in Greenwich, CT who enlists her help for the wife of a U.S. senator whose world has been turned upside down by a plethora of media headlines and wrongful accusations. I don’t want to give away too much in case you haven’t read it yet, but I will say that this one has kept me on the edge of my seat with different twists and turns! Many people have said that it reads like a Real Housewives of Greenwich and I couldn’t agree more! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely consider reading more from Lauren Weisberger in the future!

Thank you so much for reading!
